About Dr. Arieta, San Rafael Psychologist

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. For my undergraduate education, I went to the University of California at Davis, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. I then went on to earn a Master of the Arts Degree and a Doctor of Psychology Degree from Alliant International University (formerly known as the California School of Professional Psychology). Both my Master's and Doctorate degrees are in Clinical Psychology, with emphases on child and family issues. As part of my graduate education, I completed a doctoral dissertation entitled, "Women's Couple Relationship Satisfaction: The Impact of Family Structure and Inter-Parental Conflict." I reviewed the literature on the experiences of divorce and inter-parental conflict on children and adults of all ages and studied the unique impact of early family relationships on adult women in their own romantic relationships. After graduate school, I completed a post-doctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente, South San Francisco, in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

I have provided school, clinic and hospital-based mental health services to diverse populations since 2002. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

My specialties include working with children of all ages and adults dealing with depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and work-life balance. I also specialize in working with parents who want to improve their relationships with their children or help their children overcome difficulties related to divorce, remarriage, loss, and trauma. Finally, I enjoy working with women to begin or maintain recovery from eating disorders.

My psychotherapy practice is located in San Rafael, California. People also come to me from San Francisco, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Greenbrae, San Anselmo, Novato and Sonoma.
