Therapy helps people with problems of all sorts. Do you need to be in crisis to call a therapist? Of course not. In fact, it is better not to wait until life has gotten completely out of hand before reaching out for help.
Parents bring their children to therapy when they are concerned about their well being. Some signs that a child is struggling and may benefit from therapy include behavioral or emotional changes, trouble managing the demands of the classroom or home environment, problems with peers, and difficulty with family relationships.
Sometimes parents seek therapy with their children because everything is fine except there is a specific problem they need help solving. Examples of the types of problems that I help parents with include helping their child to get along with siblings, finding effective discipline strategies, motivating children to follow household or classroom rules, teaching children coping skills or decreasing arguing. Are you tired of arguing with your kids? Do they never listen? It doesn't have to be that way.
I also support families when they are dealing with issues related to divorce or remarriage, or when their children need help coping with stress, loss, trauma or family conflict. Are you recently divorced or separated? Have you started dating again or are you thinking about remarriage? Did you and your children lose your spouse? It is really important to get support during times like these.
While many of my clients come to see me with their families, I also see clients individually. I work with adults who are dealing with problems at home, at work or in their personal relationships. Many people seek therapy because they have a lot going on in their lives and need to figure how to cope with stress more effectively so that they can enjoy their lives more. Are you having a tough time? Do you not enjoy your life, or the people in your life, as much as you used to? I'd like to help you get back on track. You deserve a life that you love.
Therapy really can help. Therapy can be extremely useful in alleviating depression, resolving conflict with significant others, building higher self-esteem, getting help with parenting difficulties, and learning to cope more effectively with stress, loss, or complications related to life changes. I have helped many people get back in control of their lives, improve their relationships and feel more fulfilled. Not sure if your problem is one that I can help you with? Call me. If it is, I'd be happy to help. If it isn't, I'll find you someone who can.
